A frustrating day that was almost very very good. Big wind and swell was forecast but an expected veer from SW to WNW made choice of venue difficult. Decided on LA which turned out to be pretty much the right place. However the wind was playing ball - up and down and all over the shop...first nothing, then bonkers 4.0, then 4.5, then nothing again, then 5.2...and predictably I spent much more time on the wrong than the right size. There was a golden hour towards the end when the sun came out, the wind stabilised to a slightly cross off 5.2ish strength, gusty but very usable out back with plentiful chunky sets piling in. But I was blobbing downwind at this point on 4.5 without enough time or motivation to trek back to the carpark and rig yet another sail, so instead had to suffer the sight of Guy on the outside who had time the change up to 5m to perfection jammy git and appeared to be having a great time in the waves. Grrrr.

Oh well you win some you lose some. At least today's HWIFY reports from other beaches suggest it was not significantly better anywhere else, even out west.
